(Thursday) Doors of Perception

Did you know some people are door enthusiasts? (No neither did I until I stumbled on Thursday Doors). But I can attest to the charm of unusual entryways, having frequently paused to capture picturesque portals on camera:

These are some of my favourites from the North West of Ireland, including some secret passages to (k)nowhere. I’ve found portals inviting and full of intrigue, and they make for evocative writing prompts. Should you feel inspired by any of these images I’d love to read what you write.  Be sure and link back to me here mentioning which door was your jumping off point, and I’ll add a list of links to the bottom of the blog post so that readers can find you.

May your doors of perception be ever open …. 😉

  1. Nice ones. I’m especially fond of the ones that are bricked over. Ghost doors I like to call them. I’m sure there’s an interesting story to each one 🙂

    1. Funny I was thinking ‘ghost doors’ too. One of them pictured is from the oldest complete city walls in Europe (over 400yrs old) in my home town. 😉

    1. It’s great isn’t it? It was in some very beautiful gardens in Glenveaigh’s Castle grounds, Donegal.

  3. Ahh, I believe you’ve identified yourself as a natural born door enthusiast; your pics certainly suggests that! I think all of the doors were great.
